The Pug Life

Chris and I knew we would get a pug one day, I had dreamt of my pug to be for years!!!! So, in 2010 the time was right and we started to look at the Pug Rescue of Florida website. We didn’t ever consider a puppy really, we felt drawn to the Rescue Pugs.  One day, as we scrolled, there he was! BODIE!!! We arranged to meet him at a local Petsmart and the rest is history. He was a 3 year old hunk of burning pug! 30 pounds!!!! We loved him and he, as pugs do, stole our hearts from the get go.

We were such novice pug owners!! By trial and error we learnt about hot spots and nose wrinkles and anal glands and dealt with a serious illness right out the gate!! Poor Bo had an infection from his neuter and was very sick for a while!! But he was a dream come true, a lover of people and hater of other dogs (not a pug trait!) After about 3 years we decided to rescue another pug!! We wanted an old pug that we could make comfortable for how ever many years they had left. Enter Spanky!!!

Spanky was a 10 year old blind pug. We fell in love with him the moment we met him in Orlando!! He gained our trust, particularly Chris, and his disability became insignificant. He did everything Bodie did and more!! He was the reason we started ‘Blind But Not’ to give back to the Pug Rescue community…

When Spanky joined us back in 2015 we started to make pug friends on Social Media and became part of a large, incredible family… For us, the involvement in the Pug Rescue community and the friendships have been a wonderful bonus grown out of our love for this amazing breed. It’s definitely ‘The Pug Life’ for us!!
